At last nights board meeting, Fire Chief Derrick Curtis and the members of CVFD honor Former Lieutenant Kevin Cokendolpher was spent 7 years on the Fire Department. Firefighters will be able to conduct swift-water rescues, fight lakeside fires from the water. In the month of March Cassie VFD was notified from the Texas A&M Forest Service (TFS) and the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) that they have awarded us grants.The TFS award CVFD a HB2604 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) grant in a 90/10 split. CVFD will purchase new wildland gear with this grant. As part of our capital improvement to the CVFD, Purchasing and installing the water softener is the 1st step towards healthier firefighters.Our big picture this year is to get the water softener, purchase and install a gear extractor(washer) and gear dryer.After every fire now, our firefighters will return to the station and after deconning their dirty gear at the scene. Cassie VFD sent one firefighter to the Taylor VFD Fire Academy, and had two complete their course work and skills in our in house academy.All three firefighters are currently waiting state skill testing and state written test dates.
Cassie VFD was notified they were awarded a training aids grant from the Texas Forest Service in the amount of $8,000.00. this grant is 100% cost share. which means we do have to pay any money out of $8,000.00.

CVFD was called to a structure fire at Noon today!Eastlake Buchanan VFD, Burnet, Hoover Valley VFD, Burnet Fire/EMS were also toned in AutoAid But canceled after the initial Interior attack. Over the past week Cassie VFD, along with the North Burnet County Task Force was out at the Painted Rock Fire in very rough country fighting a fire. also this past week CVFD responded to 4 MVC and 3 EMS call we had responded to 12 calls in a week.
