Cassie VFD and Burnet County ESD #2 purchase a gravely utility terrain vehicle used to wildland fires, search and rescue missions, and accessing the lake when its low.Rover-1 44301 also known as Rescue UTV 31 comes with 85 gallons of water and 2.5 gallons of class A foams. It can carry a stokes basket on the skid unit to transport our patients.
The first couple of FEMA trucks have arrived and bought Cassie VFD 2 pallets of MREs (Meals Ready to Eat). We are still awaiting bottle water deliveries.CVFD does have Canned drinking water to pass out, but in limited stock.

At last nights board meeting, Fire Chief Derrick Curtis and the members of CVFD honor Former Lieutenant Kevin Cokendolpher was spent 7 years on the Fire Department. In the month of March Cassie VFD was notified from the Texas A&M Forest Service (TFS) and the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) that they have awarded us grants.The TFS award CVFD a HB2604 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) grant in a 90/10 split. CVFD will purchase new wildland gear with this grant. As part of our capital improvement to the CVFD, Purchasing and installing the water softener is the 1st step towards healthier firefighters.Our big picture this year is to get the water softener, purchase and install a gear extractor(washer) and gear dryer.After every fire now, our firefighters will return to the station and after deconning their dirty gear at the scene. Cassie VFD sent one firefighter to the Taylor VFD Fire Academy, and had two complete their course work and skills in our in house academy.All three firefighters are currently waiting state skill testing and state written test dates.
